An ambiguous celebration where gravity, cruelty, sensuality, hysteria and meditation alternate in the tones of a sumptuous pictorial mastery. A celebration of the intranquility of the bodies.
JM Adolphe, in L’Humanité, juin 1991.
It could be the gathering of a family or of individuals sharing a common history. On a wedding day or night, or a funeral, maybe the dream of each of them where everyone is in the other’s dream. We don’t know who’s alive and who’s dead. The events of a lifetime pass by, processions of sensations and nostalgic minimal images of childhood. At times, the sensuality of the scents and colours that emanate from a nearby nature, at times the violence, the absurdity of nightmares. Punctuated with snatches of sentences from the Portuese writer Fernando Pessoa.
